He learned nothing about his behavior? Wtf. I’m not that kind of supportive fan. He could have spread some wisdom if he had gotten any from the experience. Buh bye.

I would like to add to the comment made by Dr.Tyson about DNA spin. There are other naturally occurring DNA variants such as Z-DNA that are left handed molecules. The spin is counter-clockwise.

@The Late Show with Stephen Colbert - you're only scratching the surface here. Not only is the ISS feed down and replaced with a video, the DSCOVR satellite that used to upload hourly images of the whole planet Earth has also conveniently developed a fault. There's something out there and they're not telling us. I think that an alien spacecraft has arrived and they're doing meetings in orbit with world leaders and they want to keep the whole thing quiet.

Awesome point of course, and I think it goes along with the effect of discovering and confirming thousands of exoplanets even within a tiny fraction of the sky had on the way people think about the religion and politics of being ‘special people’ from a special place—the now completely debunked notion that only our solar system has planets, that we are alone and unique in all the universe at least as a mass of solids, liquids, and gas. Just finding water on other bodies within our own solar system, plenty of it, had a tremendous impact on how people think, about other people. Even though we live in a time of polarization, we no longer live in a time of chosen people and master races, of superiority and inferiority, not in popular thought the way it was even as little as ten years ago, because we know there are other planets, that there’s water ‘out there,’ and that the discovery of life beyond Earth is practically a sure thing.

I’m sad. :( I’ve loved NDT for years and I kinda wish he said a bit more about the sexual misconduct allegations. Trying to set this aside and appreciate the part of him that’s so passionate about astronomy, and compartmentalize the fact that it’s unclear if he caused harm to women.

Because it will be a decisive challenge of their beliefs evangelical Christians will become unhinged if alien life is ever encountered.

How naive. Most likely a large part of humanity will collaborate with Aliens to save their skins and/or obtain a few privileges (did the people under British dominion unite against the Empire?). Anyway, that's subscribing to an anthropocentric view of alien life where we imagine Aliens looking and behaving more or less like us. Flying in machines, being territorial, wanting to steal resources. Most likely alien life will be a completely different life form we can't even wrap our heads around.

Finding a single cell species on mars is going to change the way we look at things.

We think that life out there is unlikely because the environment is hostile.

But, what if the environment there is hostile for us, and welcoming for them; and they might find the environment on earth to be hostile!

I could only hope finding life on another planet make this planet unified but the question is if DNA spirals one way on 1 hemesphere does it spiral the other way in another 🤣

I hate women who falsely accuse men of sexual misconduct. They make true victims of sexual assault a disservice.
If you accuse a man of sexual misconduct and fail to prove it you should be prosecuted criminally and you should pay a hefty financial compensation to said man.
